Full Container Load (FCL) - BMI Shipping

Full-Container-Load (FCL) is one of the main types of transportation when moving goods and equipment around the world. A single shipper that occupies the entire container is an FCL shipment. Many companies will move their goods in a container as an FCL even if they are not able to fill the container completely, due to security, speed, cost and fewer restrictions when moving hazardous cargo.

Security – the risk of theft or damage significantly decreases.
Speed – processing of goods (receiving, loading, unloading, segregation) takes fewer days to complete.
Cost – is usually less expensive per cubic meter or per kilogram for larger shipments.

Containers come in different sizes and generally ocean carriers use the following types of containers.
